The Kapalua Villas Maui

The reason for the review- my husband and I booked Kapalua Villas in July 2023 and we received notice on 12/19/23 that our reservation for 1/4/24 was cancelled due to the fact they are still housing displaced residents from Lahaina. Now, I want to be clear, I feel for those that are displaced and my review has nothing to do with that. What is concerning however is the poor business practices and ethics of Kapalua Villas. They provided zero communication prior to 12/19 that our reservation was cancelled or that there was a possibility of cancellation due to the fact they were housing displaced residents from Lahaina. Now, typically we would just reschedule this trip however we have golf tickets for the Sentry tournament therefore we're coming the weekend of 1/4 regardless. With that said, we had to find a new hotel and paid an astronomical price because of the late booking. Kapalua Villas is taking zero responsibility for their actions- they should have been communicating in early fall that there was a possibility of cancellations but we have heard nothing from them prior to 12/19. The right thing to do is to pay the difference in price between what we pre-paid in July to what we have to pay now which is around $4k difference. There's been zero ownership or apology from this property. Consumer beware!

My first time to Maui and I booked 2 bedroom, 2 bath at the Kapalua Villas. Don't stay here. It is old, no management available, the condo had never be upgraded, dirty, old. Inept people working there that know nothing. We went the beginning of March 2023 for two weeks and were so disappointed. They have not recovered from Covid. I was paying $850 per night. A total rip off.
